TV programs

Yesterday ( Vinayagar Chathurthi) i watched many programs on TV. "I proposed" on Discovery Travel and living was one . About an english boy proposing to his live in girl friend . He is taking huge efforts to make the event an unforgettable one for his fiancee. Really touching and finally when he proposed infront of the HOLLYWOOD sign one can not help thinking about Indian marriages. I am not saying that is better or this is not better. But the basic fact that the guy has to ask the girls permission and the girl has to conduct herself properly so as to attract a proposal from a suitable groom may be the same in both cultures but the way they are getting executed shows a sea of difference in the level of maturity in the two cultures. Hope i made myself clear.
The second one was "Jailed abroad" in Natgeo. Hostages taken by Abu sayaf of phillipines spend almost a year in captivity. Among two couple one male was killed by the terrorists. when the phillipino army finally arrived to rescue them after 11 months the husband got killed and the wife shot in her legs.As the lady was narrating the events it's just not a terrorist saga but a true refection of personal relationships and journey about learning new things. The way she narrates the final moments of her husband, when they say good buy to each other days before the death definitely would make people think about their lives and how gifted they are when they could live happily with their loved ones. The parting shot came when she told how much a changed person she was after this incident." I saw every thing in black and white and i was very critical of people" I can not help wondering if i were the same.
The third one was about Saddam Hussein from the perspective of his daughter. Glimpse of brutality of his son was the core. All the dictators had a big weakness in their sons. It reminded me of Prabakaran, i believe he also had a weakness for his son and that was one of the reasons he failed.
